BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Western Washington University has provided an update after a dean was arrested on campus last week.

On Monday, Oct. 21, Provost Brad Johnson told the campus community in a memo that John Danneker is no longer employed as the Dean of Libraries. Johnson says Danneker was no longer employed at the university as of Friday, Oct. 18.

Danneker was arrested on campus on Monday, Oct. 14, after a man posing as a 16-year-old accused him of communicating with minors for immoral purposes.

Whatcom County Prosecutor Eric Richey said that his office would not bring charges against Danneker due to Washington’s age of consent being 16.

Danneker was released from jail the following day and was on administrative leave until Friday.
