BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A woman was sent to the hospital and later arrested following a DUI crash in Bellingham.

Bellingham Police spokesperson Megan Peters says that a car was travelling through an intersection near E. Bakerview Road on the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 31.

While heading through a green light, they were hit by another car making a U-turn. An officer noted that the driver of the car making a U-turn had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.

The suspect driver, a 36-year-old woman, was injured and taken to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. Investigators later learned that her license was suspended at the time of the crash. She was issued a citation due to her injuries.

Over the course of the holiday weekend, 12 people were booked into the Whatcom County Jail on suspected DUI charges.
