WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – It’s getting blustery in parts of the region today.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a wind advisory for the lowlands of western Whatcom and Skagit Counties, as well as all of San Juan County.

Through at least 7 p.m. tonight, we’ll see southeast winds anywhere between 15-25 mph. Gusts could reach as high as 40 mph inland, with up to 45 mph gusts predicted near the coast.

If you’re out driving, watch for any debris like tree branches that may fall along your path of travel.

Further east, a winter storm warning remains in place for the North Cascades through 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Mount Baker could see 1-2 feet of snow fall along its slopes, while the North Cascades Highway might see anywhere from 8-12 inches.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that studded tires are now legal on Washington roadways, and chains are required through all of the state’s mountain passes.
