WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Dairy farmers across Whatcom County are teaming up to bring a day of learning and fun as the annual “Whatcom This Whey” event unfolds on June 21.

Nine different dairy farms or dairy brands are opening their doors and fences for a family friendly day of wagon rides, tours through the farms and hands on activities. A few of the farms include Steensma Creamery, Ferndale Farmstead and Grace Harbor Farms.

The annual event is hosted by Washington Dairy, an organization that supports dairy farmers across Washington state.

“Dairy farming is such an integral part of the community in Whatcom County,” said Ivan Chu, Senior Director of Marketing and Communications at Washington Dairy. “This event gives people a chance to meet the families who make it happen—and taste the difference that local dairy makes.”

Certain locations will offer free tastings of cheese, milk or ice cream that have been produced by cows in Whatcom County.

Admission for this event is free, and it is recommended that anyone who plans to attend this multi-location event wears boots.

For more information about the event, head to the Washington Dairy website.
