WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The deadline is coming up to give your final thoughts on the long-term direction of how Whatcom County grows.
The county council is beginning its final review of the county’s Comprehensive Plan this week.
State law requires the county to update its plan every decade to guide growth in unincorporated areas over the next 20 years. It tackles everything from housing and utilities to transportation and the environment.
The council will be reviewing and potentially amending each individual chapter of the draft plan over the next two months.
Its first meeting takes place in the council chambers at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, where it will take public comment on the land use and housing chapters of the plan.
The council is expected to approve the final version of the plan in mid-May.
