SAN JUAN ISLAND, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Frequent visitors to the San Juan Islands are being asked to give their input on new ferry schedules.

Washington State Ferries (WSF) is hosting an online open house to share information and gather feedback on the proposed changes to the Anacortes/San Juan Islands route.

WSF says the route has seen a lot of change since its schedules were last updated 10-15 years ago.

It adds that the outdated schedules can cause the ferries to arrive late and says the change is needed to improve its reliability for locals and tourists.

The proposed fixes include two opportunities to leave the islands for the mainland in the early and mid-mornings.

The draft schedules were developed with the help of a community task force group, but WSF is still asking the public to offer their feedback on the proposed changes.

All the information through the virtual open house will be online through Aug. 23.
