BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Upcoming utility replacements could cause some late-night noise near Bellingham’s Sehome neighborhood.
The Bellingham City Council voted unanimously Monday, Sept. 14, to approve a noise exemption for night work along Samish Way.
Construction is expected to start in October to replace an aging sewer on Samish between Bill McDonald Parkway and E Maple Street. Much of the work will take place at night to reduce impacts on the high-traffic corridor that also contains several businesses.
A smaller part of the project will upgrade sewers on G Street between Halleck Street and Brier Lane, along with North Street between Cornwall Avenue and Ellis Street. That work will take place during the day with some temporary road closures possible.
Work along G Street will take place before crews begin work on Samish Way, with the entire project anticipated to finish in May 2027.
The project is expected to last 150 days to complete, including 130 days of night work on Samish, which will take place between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
