UPDATE: Victim identified in recent north Bellingham shooting

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) -Police have identified the victim of a shooting in north Bellingham on Monday morning.

Bellingham Police say the victim was identified by the medical examiner as 30-year-old Zachariah Janusiewicz of Everson. His death was ruled a homicide as the result of a shooting.

MyBellinghamNow reported on police responding to multiple reports of shots being heard in the woods near Tull Street off Kellog Road at around 3:00 a.m. on Monday. They arrived to find a group of people with Janusiewicz, who had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Police confirmed the shooting occurred near a homeless encampment, but they are not connecting the incident to the encampment at this time. No suspects have been taken into custody yet.

No other information is available at this time, as the investigation is still ongoing.
