SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Rescue crews have recovered the bodies of two men a day after they fell into the water at a popular swimming area in Snohomish County.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office says the men were reported missing after a friend said they fell into the water at Eagle Falls Saturday and did not resurface.

Search and rescue teams began the search that afternoon along the South Fork Skykomish River. Search efforts were suspended overnight and resumed on Sunday, when divers recovered the missing bodies.

The victims’ identities have not yet been released until their next of kin are notified.

Officials asked people to stay out of the water and clear from the falls, adding that creeks and rivers in the area were running swiftly and water temperatures remain very cold.
