The National Weather Service (NWS) said there’s a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms taking place across northwest Washington on Tuesday, June 9. Those could produce dangerous lightning, gusty winds, small hail and brief periods of heavy rain.

Forecasters are also warning residents of conditions that pose moderate, and potentially even major, heat risk this weekend.

High temperatures are currently forecast in the mid-80’s for both Sunday, June 14 and next Monday, June 15 in Bellingham.

According to Extreme Weather Watch, those could break all-time highs for each day of 83 and 82 degrees, respectively.

NWS said the conditions could also bring elevated fire risk.
