EVERSON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Local law enforcement helped get a person out of a sticky situation on the Nooksack River over the weekend.

Everson Police said in a social media post that they rescued a person who had been inner tubing on the Nooksack River on Friday afternoon.

The person had become stranded on a log jam near the 6200 block of Lawrence Road.

According to the post, the Everson/Sumas Police Department’s Swiftwater Rescue Team responded and was able to reach the person.

He was brought onto a rescue boat and transported to shore, where Whatcom Fire District 1 crews found that he had sustained no injuries.

Police note that he was wearing a life jacket at the time.

They add that they want people recreating on the water to be cautious and make sure their life jacket fits and is one approved by the U.S. Coast Guard.
