Special election nears for Lynden residents

LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – We’re roughly a month away from a special election in Whatcom County.

The Auditor’s Office says that ballot packets will soon be mailed out for the April 28 special election.

Lynden residents will be voting on a capital levy that would fund a host of upgrades across the Lynden School District.

KGMI previously reported that if the levy passes, it would raise property tax rates by $1.09 per $1000 assessed value.

This follows three previous attempts to pass similar bond measures for the district, all of which did not meet the 60% threshold needed to pass.

Ballots should arrive for residents within the voting district by April 13.
