OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A second state initiative has been approved to likely go before voters this November.

Secretary of State Steve Hobbs announced on Monday, Jan. 26 that signatures have been verified for the second of Let’s Go Washington’s new initiatives.

If passed, it would overturn changes made in the state’s last legislative session restricting the access that parents have to their student’s records and course material.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that LGW’s first initiative seeking to ban transgender students from girls’ youth spots had its signatures verified last week.

The state legislature now has the option to pass the initiatives or send them to voters in November’s general election.

It can also pass alternative proposals to go alongside each of the initiatives on the ballot.

Still, Democratic leaders in Olympia have recently stated that they don’t plan to consider either of LGW’s initiatives.
