SEDRO-WOOLLEY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Police are asking for the public’s help following a three car crash in Skagit County over the weekend.
The Sedro-Woolley Police Department says the collision occurred on Highway 20 between Metcalf Street and Murdock Street around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26.
According to police, a driver had hit the two other cars when he tried to illegally pass them.
SWPD says that driver later admitted to consuming alcohol before the incident and was detained for DUI. The department says he had also stolen the car just before causing the accident.
The alleged at-fault driver was the only one who was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to the ER for advanced care. Police later found that he was from out of the state and had a criminal history in Florida, Tennessee and Missouri.
He was not booked into the Skagit County Jail due to his injuries and will be referred to Skagit County Superior Court on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without permission and DUI.
Police say there was a large group of people near the crash who filmed the incident.
Anyone with video from the crash is being asked to give a copy to Sedro-Woolley Police for evidence at 360-428-3211.
