WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Drivers in Whatcom County can expect overnight lane and ramp closures this week as WSDOT crews repair pavement on several state highways.

Tuesday night, the work will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and includes single-lane closures on SR 544 – also known as East Pole Road – between the Guide Meridian and Everson.

A northbound I-5 off-ramp closure at Birch Bay-Lynden Road is scheduled for Wednesday night, Aug. 5, followed Thursday night by closures of the northbound Iowa Street off-ramp and the southbound Ohio Street on-ramp in Bellingham.

Flaggers and signed detours will direct traffic through the work zones.

WSDOT says the repairs are weather dependent and could be postponed if rain moves into the area.

The work is part of a regional pavement preservation project designed to extend the life of highways across northwest Washington.
