BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A protest is planned in Bellingham on Saturday, June 14 as part of a nationwide effort to counter the military parade in Washington, D.C.

The No Kings Day of Defiance demonstration is scheduled from 3-6 p.m. at Bellingham City Hall.

Organizers say it’s a response to what they call “increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption” by President Trump and his allies. They say they’re committed to non-violent action and expect participants to de-escalate any potential confrontations with people who disagree with their message.

The City of Bellingham has issued a special event permit for the event.

Similar demonstrations are planned in cities around the nation in opposition to the military parade to mark 250 years since the founding of the U.S. Army.

The parade in the nation’s capital also takes place on President Trump’s 79th birthday.

Whatcom County Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is holding their own march the day before the No Kings Day of Defiance demonstration.

In a post uploaded to social media, the Ferndale ICE-breaker will include a rally and a march starting in the library parking lot and end at city hall on Friday, June 13.

According to the post, the group will be demanding for the protection of Whatcom County’s undocumented neighbors.

The rally is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and the march for 5 p.m.

A sign making event will take place before the rally and include an info panel in the Ferndale Library conference rooms.
