SEATTLE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – With the holiday travel rush underway, staff at Sea-Tac want to make sure you get to your destination without any road bumps.
The Port of Seattle has installed new signs near the airport’s rideshare pickup locations, and they’re advising travelers to be cautious of fake rides.
Those looking to hail a ride from Uber or Lyft drivers are being urged to ask their prospective driver to confirm their intended passenger’s name.
Earlier this year, KING 5 reported a traveler at Sea-Tac was conned by a fake rideshare driver, who drove a similar vehicle to the one he had actually ordered.
On some rideshare apps, riders can also confirm a unique code shared between themselves and their intended driver.
The warnings come as Sea-Tac, like other airports, is expected to fill up with holiday travelers throughout the week. Over 150,000 passengers per day will make their way through Sea-Tac leading up to the Christmas holiday.
