WBC News

The United States is battling for world baseball supremacy tonight.

They’re facing Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic championship.

Seattle’s Cal Raleigh and Gabe Speier will be in for a reunion with their former teammate Eugenio Suarez, who hit a home run for Venezuela in their semifinals win over Italy last night. Venezuela’s lineup also features other MLB stars like Ronald Acuna Jr., Luis Arraez, Gleyber Torres and Jackson Chourio.

Nolan McLean will take the mound for the US, as the righty looks to build on a successful rookie season with the Mets last year. He’ll be going up against Diamondbacks lefty Eduardo Rodriguez.

Tonight’s game starts at 5:00 from Miami.

March Madness News

March Madness officially tips off today.

16-seeds UMBC and Howard begin the tournament by dueling for the right to play top-seeded Michigan in the Midwest Region.

After that, 11-seeds Texas and NC State will battle, with the winner moving on to face 6th-seeded BYU out west. They tip off at 6:15.

The First Four of the women’s bracket tips off tomorrow.

The Huskies men won’t be part of any of the madness, as they didn’t receive an invite to any of the postseason tournaments.

Kraken News

The Kraken are back tonight in a battle to keep their playoff positioning as the home stretch of the regular season approaches.

They’re hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning in their final match before heading off on a six-game road trip out east.

The Kraken have a chance to notch their third straight win as they cling to the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They’re currently tied with the LA Kings for the second wild card with 16 games left to go in the regular season.

Coverage for tonight’s game against Tampa begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 on KPUG.

FIFA World Cups News

One of Seattle’s upcoming FIFA World Cup games is still in flux.

The Iranian ambassador and embassy in Mexico City said the country is negotiating with FIFA to move Iran’s three group-stage matches from the United States to Mexico.

One of Iran’s games is scheduled to take place in Seattle against Egypt on June 26.  It comes after President Trump discouraged the team last week from attending the tournament, citing safety concerns.

The FIFA World Cup runs from June 11 to July 19, with the first match in Seattle being played between Belgium and Egypt on June 15.

Lumen Field will also be the site of the US’s match against Australia on June 19.

NFL News

A trio of standout receivers just found new homes in the NFL.

The Denver Broncos added former sixth-overall pick Jaylen Waddle and a fourth-round pick from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for this year’s 30th overall pick, a third and a fourth.

Waddle has topped 5,000 receiving yards over five seasons in Miami. He’ll now look to build chemistry with former Oregon quarterback Bo Nix on a Broncos team that made the AFC Championship last season.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers continued their active offseason by adding former Texan Christian Kirk on a one-year, $6 million deal. Kirk will join Mike Evans as a pair of new pass catchers to a Niners offense that suffered several injuries at the position last season.

And the Philadelphia Eagles signed Hollywood Brown to a one-year, $6.5 million deal. The speedster will join the team as the projected No. 3 receiver behind A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith.
