Sounders News

The Sounders are playing Atletico Madrid today in a must-win match.

It’s Seattle’s second game of group-stage play in the FIFA Club World Cup tournament.

After their loss to Botafogo on Saturday, the Sounders have to get a win today in order to have a chance to move on to the Round of 16.

Coach Brian Schmetzer has acknowledged that his club will be massive underdogs against Madrid.

The 11-time Spanish champion is ranked 15th in the world compared to Seattle at 223, according to Opta Analyst.

It’s also a must-win for Atletico, after it lost to powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain 4-0 on Sunday.

Today’s match will be the first-ever meeting between the two clubs.

It just got underway at 3:00 from Lumen Field.

NBA News

The Oklahoma City Thunder are looking to secure their first-ever NBA championship tonight, much to the chagrin of Sonics fans across Washington.

OKC holds a 3-2 lead over the Pacers heading into tonight’s Game 6 in Indianapolis.

The Thunder are coming off a definitive 11-point win over the Pacers on Monday.

One of the big questions is Indiana star point guard Tyrese Haliburton’s health, who is dealing with a right calf strain.

He failed to score a field goal in the last game, but says he’s going to do “everything in his power” to suit up tonight.

His Pacers will look to force a Game 7 in OKC, which would take place on Sunday.

Coverage for tonight’s Game 6 begins at 4:30 and tipoff is at 5:30 on KPUG.

Mariners News

A key Mariner could soon make his return to the lineup.

Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports that Luke Raley is expected to come off the injured list in the coming days, even as soon as this weekend.

Raley has been out since late April with an oblique strain.

In five rehab games with Triple-A Tacoma over the past week he’s gone 7 of 19, including a mammoth home run that came on Tuesday.

Raley would be a welcome addition for a Mariners lineup that’s trying to fill a hole at right field after injuries to both him and usual starter Victor Robles.

It comes as the M’s are about to embark on a 10-game road trip, starting with a weekend series against the Chicago Cubs.

Coverage for the series opener begins at 10 am and first pitch is at 11:20 tomorrow morning on KPUG with George Kirby taking the mound.

Bells News

The Bells are playing a rubber match against the Riverhawks in Edmonton tonight after the Hawks cooled them down.

Edmonton beat Bellingham 6-4 last night to end the Bells’ three-game win streak.

Nate Kirkpatrick tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth on an RBI groundout, but the Riverhawks piled on three runs in the seventh and never relinquished their lead.

The Bells will have their five-series win streak on the line in tonight’s decisive Game 3 against the Hawks.

First pitch is at 6:35 from Edmonton.

Tonight’s game will be the last one before the Bells come back to town for a six-game homestand starting tomorrow.
