Mariners News

The Mariners are looking to salvage their series in San Diego tonight on the heels of a heartbreaker.

The M’s squandered a four-run lead entering the ninth inning of last night’s game and fell to the Padres 7-6 on a walk off double by Jackson Merrill.

Luke Raley led a powerful offensive attack early in the game with a 2-run homer in the fifth inning. The M’s held a 6-0 lead after five, but the Padres got on the board in the sixth off a 2-run shot from Xander Bogaerts.

Seattle held them silent for the next two innings, but closer Andres Munoz got lit up for five runs in the final inning, with San Diego’s Merrill notching the winning hit off Jose Ferrer.

Raley would finish with four hits and Emerson Hancock recorded his third quality start of the season, but it wasn’t enough as Seattle went down 2-0 in the series.

Luis Castillo is taking the mound tonight as he looks to help the M’s avoid a sweep. Coverage begins at 4:30 and first pitch is at 5:40 on KPUG.

Kraken News

The Kraken are back tonight for the final time this season.

They’re playing the last game of their schedule on the road against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Kraken are coming off a 4-1 loss last night to the Vegas Golden Knights. Shane Wright scored the first goal of the game in the second period, but Vegas responded with four unanswered scores to win its first meeting of the season against Seattle.

The Kraken were officially eliminated from the NHL playoffs over the weekend, marking the third straight year they’ve missed the postseason. They’ve limped to the finish line, having lost 12 of their last 15 games amid one of their worst stretches in recent memory.

Seattle is now facing a Colorado squad that’s already wrapped up the best record in the league. They’ll also be going up against Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon, who leads the league in goals scored.

Coverage for the Kraken’s final game of the season begins at 6:30 and puck drops at 7 tonight on KGMI.

Sounders News

The Sounders fell short last night even after earning a dominant win.

Seattle beat Tigres UANL 3-1 last night at Lumen Field. But they were eliminated from the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals after finishing the two-leg series with a 3-3 tie on aggregate scoring since the Tigres scored the only away goal of the series, which served as the tiebreaker.

Tigres’ Joaquim Henrique scored a header in the 31st minute of last night’s match, which meant the Sounders had to win by at least three goals to advance in the tournament.

Liga MX’s Tigres now move on to face Nashville in the cup semifinals, while LAFC will face Toluca FC on the other side of the bracket.

The Sounders are back in MLS action on Saturday when they host St. Louis. It will be their first home match in league play since the season opener.

UW Huskies News

The Huskies men’s basketball program just suffered another blow.

Sophomore Zoom Diallo announced yesterday that he’s transferring to Kentucky.

He was a key part of the Huskies’ team last season as their second leading scorer with nearly 16 points per game.  The 6-foot-4 guard was the 8th-highest rated recruit in program history in 2024.

His announcement came a day after it was reported that star freshman Hannes Steinbach is declaring for the NBA Draft, where he’s projected to be a first-round pick.

Meanwhile, former Gonzaga sharpshooter Steele Venters announced last tonight that he’s transferring to UW for his final season of eligibility.

Seahawks News

The NFL Draft is just one week away.

The first round of the draft gets underway next Thursday from Pittsburgh.

The Seahawks own four picks, including the last pick of the first round at No. 32 overall after winning the Super Bowl. They also own the 64th overall pick coming in round two, the 96th overall pick in round three and the 188th overall pick in round six.

Seattle traded its 4th and 5th round picks to New Orleans at last season’s trade deadline to acquire Pro Bowl receiver and returner Rashid Shaheed.

A former Seahawks star is also set to make a guest appearance during the draft. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that former Pro Bowl defensive end Cliff Avril is set to announce the team’s second round pick next Friday.

We’ll be airing the first round of the draft on KPUG.
