Kraken News

The Kraken’s up-and-down road trip continued last night. Seattle fell to the Washington Capitals 4-1.

They’ve now lost four of their last five matches after starting off the season 2-0. Jaden Schwartz scored their lone goal as Seattle dropped both legs of its back-to-back.

Coming up next, the Kraken wrap up their six-game road trip with a match in Winnipeg tomorrow. There, they’ll look to snap the Jets’ five-game win streak.

NBA News

The NBA season tipped off with a bang last night.

The Oklahoma City Thunder outlasted the Houston Rockets 125-124 in double overtime to win the first game of the season. Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 35 points to cap off the Thunder’s ring ceremony and championship banner unveiling.

OKC is the odds-on favorite to win it all again this season, followed by the New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Kevin Durant scored 23 points in his return to OKC, where he won MVP in 2014.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors beat the LA Lakers 119-109 in the nightcap.

A former Mariners skipper is in the mix for a new job.

Scott Servais is reportedly a candidate for manager with the Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles.

Servais was fired in August 2024 following a brutal stretch where the M’s lost their chokehold on the division race. He’s the second-winningest manager in Mariners history, recording 680 wins over nine seasons with the team.

There are currently seven open manager jobs in the majors after a pair of AL West teams found their new skippers in the Texas Rangers and LA Angels.

Meanwhile, another club made history with their manager signing.

The San Francisco Giants announced today that they’ve named Tennessee coach Tony Vitello as their new manager. It marks the first time that a big league team has hired a manager straight from a college program without any professional experience.

Vitello will replace Bob Melvin, who was fired in September after the Giants missed the playoffs for the fourth-straight season.

NFL News

A former star quarterback with the Seahawks is making headlines for his beef with one of the league’s most decorated coaches.

Russell Wilson fired back at Broncos coach Sean Payton over social media yesterday, two days after Payton took a swipe at Russ following Denver’s win over the Giants. Payton praised Giants rookie quarterback Jaxon Dart after the win and hinted that he was hoping to face Wilson in the game.

Wilson shot back on X, calling the comment “classless, but not surprising.” He went on to make a joke about bounty hunting, referencing the 2012 scandal that got Payton suspended for a year with the Saints.

Wilson, now the Giants’ backup QB, played two seasons under Payton in Denver before they went through an ugly breakup.
