The Kraken’s late-game rally came up just short last night. Seattle fell to the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 in overtime.

Montreal was up 3-0 midway through the final period of play, but Brandon Montour scored two goals and assisted on another to force extra time. But the Canadiens’ Cole Caufield set a franchise record with his 11th career overtime goal to hand the Kraken the loss.

It was Seattle’s second tight loss to Montreal this season after falling in overtime two weeks earlier.

The Kraken have the next few days off before continuing their homestand on Saturday against the New York Rangers.

The Dodgers and Blue Jays are rallying to take control of the World Series tonight.

Toronto beat LA 6-2 yesterday to tie the series at two games apiece. Vlad Guerrero Jr. hit his seventh home run of the playoffs and Shane Bieber tossed just over five innings of one-run ball to get the crucial win.

Tonight’s Game 5 will be the last in Los Angeles as the Dodgers look to get an edge with 2x former Cy Young winner Blake Snell on the mound against Blue Jays rookie Trey Yesavage.

Cal Raleigh just got a major honor from his peers in Major League Baseball.

The MLB Players Association announced today that Cal was voted as the overall Player of the Year and American League Outstanding Player in the 2025 Players Choice Awards. He was one of three finalists for Player of the Year, along with the Yankees’ Aaron Judge and the Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani.

Cal now becomes the first Mariner and first catcher to earn the honor since it was introduced in 1998. All eyes remain on the American League MVP award, which will be announced on Nov. 13.

Seahawks News

The Seahawks could be without a key piece in their secondary for yet another week.

Head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters today that Pro Bowl safety Julian Love suffered a setback from his hamstring injury during last week’s bye. His status for Sunday night’s game against the Commanders is now “in jeopardy.”

Macdonald added that Love could potentially go to the injured reserve, which would force him to miss at least four games.

Love has already missed four games this season in addition to five more missed by All-Pro cornerback Devon Witherspoon, who is expected to return this Sunday.

HS Volleyball News

Lynden’s volleyball team is heading into the postseason with a head full of steam.

The Lions swept Lakewood in three sets last night to finish the regular season with a perfect 16-0 record. Lynden features senior Rian Stephan, who will continue her career at the University of Washington next season as an outside hitter.

District volleyball tournaments begin on Saturday for Class 1A and 2A. Lynden owns the best record in the Northwest Conference, followed by Ferndale, Meridian, Sehome and Nooksack Valley, respectively.
