Mariners News

The Mariners beat the Orioles 3-0 this afternoon to secure the series win.

Seattle scored all three of their runs in the first inning, when Cole Young scored Josh Naylor on an RBI double and Colt Emerson followed with a 2-run single.

Bryan Woo struck out nine and gave up just three hits over seven shutout innings to earn his sixth win of the season. Eduard Bazardo and Andres Munoz followed with two innings of no-hit ball.

Julio Rodriguez was out of the lineup after he left yesterday’s game with a hamstring spasm, but M’s fans were happy to see Naylor score a run in his first game back from a wrist injury.

The Mariners now sit at 39-37 on the season and are two games above the Athletics for first place in the AL West.

They’ll finish up their homestand with a weekend series against the Boston Red Sox. Coverage for tomorrow’s series opener begins at 6:00 and first pitch is at 7:10 on KPUG.

It will be the return of the piggyback, with Bryce Miller and Luis Castillo splitting the game.

Bells News

The Bells are looking to extend their win streak tonight. They’re finishing out their series in Port Angeles with a chance to sweep the Lefties.

The Bells prevailed 10-7 last night thanks to home runs by Matt Churchill and Jaden Jackson. Churchill hit a three-run bomb in the top of the first, before Jackson added a three-run shot of his own in the fourth inning to lead the charge.

Bellingham’s won three straight, while Port Angeles has dropped 10 of their last 11.

First pitch for tonight’s series finale is at 6:35. After that, the Bells will return home for a six-game stand at Joe Martin Field, starting tomorrow night against Kamloops.

World Cup News

Week 2 of the World Cup is underway as the US gears up for their first-ever match in Seattle tomorrow.

The US is playing Australia at noon in their second match of group-stage play. Both teams are coming off big wins, with the US prevailing in a dominant showing against Paraguay while Australia stunned Turkey.

There will be two official fan zone watch parties in downtown Bellingham for the big game tomorrow: a block party in front of the Commercial Street Parking Garage with a massive LED screen and another watch party at Trackside Beer Garden.

But if you want to watch the game in person at Lumen Field, it’ll cost you a pretty penny. The cheapest tickets on SeatGeek are currently selling for just over $1,800.

Taking a look at today’s games, Czechia and South Africa played to a 1-1 draw, while Switzerland topped Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1.

Watch out for traffic up north, as Canada plays Qatar in Vancouver at 3:00. After that, Mexico caps off Thursday’s slate by facing South Korea at 6:00.

Storm News

The Storm couldn’t end their early-season woes last night.

They fell to the Portland Fire 94-89 on the road in their first-ever match against the expansion Fire. Dominique Malonga scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but the Fire’s Bridget Carleton caught fire and hit seven 3’s to hand the Storm their ninth-straight loss.

They’ll look to snap their skid on Saturday when they wrap up their road trip against the Mercury in Phoenix.
