WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Residents of the Whatcom County area were presented with an out-of-this-world presentation on Friday, May 10 as the Northern Lights showed their true colors in the skies above.

This is not the first time the Northern Lights have been in the skies above Whatcom County, but this year’s light show proved to be memorable on a picture-perfect and clear May night.

The National Weather Service in Seattle has announced that the Northern Lights, although less powerful, will be on display throughout the weekend.

In case you were not able to step outside on Friday night, we recommend heading away from light pollution in the city to have the best chance of seeing the lights through the weekend. Some optimal spots are Teddy Bear Cove off of the historic Chuckanut Drive, the Nooksack River confluence, Mount Baker or the Maple Falls/Silver Lake area.

MyBellinghamNow readers sent in photos from across the region, showcasing the highly sought after solar event. Colors mixed with purple, green and blue painted the sky with ribbons.

If you have photos of the Northern Lights in Whatcom County, we want to see them! Send them to news@mybellinghamnow.com to be featured on our website.
