BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A new road map for the state’s transportation network over the next 20 years is finally ready for the public.

The Washington State Transportation Commission recently released the state’s Transportation Plan Vision 2050.

It’s a policy plan for the state that can be followed and implemented by transportation agencies, both large and small, throughout the state.

The plan is a culmination of two years of research and community outreach, including a public comment period that KGMI previously reported on.

Problems identified, such as traffic fatalities, unreliable infrastructure, and severe weather impacts were named in the document.

Some of the solutions the transportation commission came up with include supporting zero-emission transportation, flexible transit systems and cross-jurisdictional partnerships.
