WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A northwest-based internet company has announced new internet options for Whatcom County residents.

Ziply Fiber, who provides internet services for states in the northwest, announced that customers in both Laurel and Custer can begin to sign up for their fiber plans.

Construction of the new fiber lines are ongoing in both areas, according to Ziply spokesperson Dan Miller. The company has been installing and replacing old DSL lines across most of Whatcom County, with the exception of Bellingham and most of the Lummi Nation.

Miller says a franchise deal between Ziply and Frontier Communications only allows them to install their fiber-optic lines in areas previously serviced by Frontier.

Parts of Everson, Blaine, Birch Bay and Ferndale will also see Ziply service expanded in the near future.
