BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – New details have emerged in the shooting case on the Lummi reservation following a court hearing and a press conference on Wednesday.

23-year-old Jesus Penuelas-Agramon was formally charged in a Whatcom County courthouse on Wednesday afternoon.

Penuelas-Agramon is charged with attempted murder in the first degree, three counts related to controlled substances, money laundering, unlawful possession of a firearm and theft of a firearm.

He is also wanted in Colorado for violating his probation parole by leaving the state.

The judge said Penuelas-Agramon is to be held in the Whatcom County jail without bail following a discussion of the charges.

Penuelas-Agramon allegedly shot at a Lummi Police officer, identified in court documents as the initials A.C., 10 times early Monday morning and hit the officer seven times. That’s according to Sheriff Donnell Tanksley, who held a brief press conference following the hearing.

Tanksley revealed more details about the incident and subsequent arrest during the conference, adding what charges Penuelas-Agramon faces in Colorado:

“The fingerprints of the suspect identified him later as Jesus Penuelas-Agramon,” he said. “Jesus is a fugitive of justice out of Colorado and also wanted for a parole violation of dangerous drugs and possession of a firearm.”

He also explained that Penuelas-Agramon gave a false name upon arrest as Tanksley said is a common occurrence.
