Mariners News

The Mariners are shaking up their coaching staff amid their struggles at the plate.

The team announced today that they’ve fired assistant hitting coach Bobby Magallanes. Taking his place will be Ed Paparella, Seattle’s minor-league hitting coordinator.

Magallanes was hired along with Kevin Seitzer heading into the 2025 season.

The move comes in the midst of a rough offensive season for the Mariners, who own the worst batting average and slugging percentage in major league baseball. They’ve also scored the second-least runs of any team in the majors.

The Mariners have the day off today as they prep for a critical seven-game road trip. It begins with a four-game series against the Texas Rangers, a battle that will award the winner first place in the American League West.

The Mariners currently sit just half a game behind the Rangers for the division lead. It will be their third series of the season, with Texas sweeping the first meeting in Arlington before Seattle took two out of three at T-Mobile Park.

Bryce Miller is on the mound for tomorrow’s series opener. Coverage begins at 4:00 and first pitch is at 5:05 on KPUG.

Seahawks News

We’re learning more about a surprise injury that sidelined one of the Seahawks’ top defensive players.

ESPN reports Nick Emmanwori is expected to miss some time in training camp after getting surgery on his right ankle earlier this month.

Still, the second-year safety is expected to be ready by their Week 1 game against the Patriots.

Emmanwori dealt with a pair of right ankle injuries last season that caused him to miss three games. He also suffered a low sprain in practice leading up to the Super Bowl and played through it, but experienced lingering soreness over the offseason which led to the surgery.

Emmanwori is coming off a successful rookie season that earned him second-place in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.

The Seahawks will hold their first practice of training camp on Saturday.

Sounders News

The Sounders’ recent woes continued yesterday.

They fell to Austin FC 3-1 on the road for their fourth straight loss. Paul Rothrock evened up the match with a goal in the 26th minute, but Austin broke the tie with a pair of late goals to steal the win.

Center back Jackson Ragen, who was recently named to the MLS All-Star team, got a pair of yellow cards and will miss their next two games.

The Sounders will look to snap their skid on Saturday when they travel to face Philadelphia Union.

Bells News

The Bells have the day off today on the heels of one of their most dominant wins of the season.

Bellingham shut out the Kelowna Falcons 10-0 last night at Joe Martin Field to win the rubber match.

Cole Anderson and Jordan Chancellor each tossed two scoreless innings to start before Lynden alum Lane Simonsen followed with a no-hit inning to earn his first win of the season. The rest of the Bells’ bullpen completed the shutout for their second in four games.

They got plenty of help at the plate, with a three-run homer by Matt Churchill alongside three hits and four RBI from Rashad Hayes.

The Bells will now hit the road for a six-game trip, starting with three against the first-place AppleSox in Wenatchee this weekend.
