The Mariners are back at home tonight after another rough road trip.
The M’s fell to the Dodgers 6-2 last night to end their seven-game trip with just two wins.
Mookie Betts started LA off with a 2-run double in the first inning and the Mariners fell into a 5-0 hole before scoring a pair of runs in the sixth. But former Mariner Teoscar Hernandez responded right away with a solo shot later as the Dodgers won the rubber match.
The Mariners now sit four games under .500 and two and a half games out of first place in the AL West. They’ll look to regain momentum during this nine-game homestand at T-Mobile Park, where they’ve had much more success throughout the season.
It starts off with the Minnesota Twins, who are just three games out of first place in their own division race. Bryce Miller is on the mound for tonight’s series opener.

Meanwhile, a viral sensation is taking the Mariners by storm.
The team announced that, due to high demand, they’re hosting a second “Jimothy Night” next week after the first one sold out. The oddly shaped raccoon seen around Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood has become an Internet celebrity over the past week.
The Mariners are offering an exclusive Jimothy T-shirt through the ticket special, which already sold out for next Wednesday, while the second night falls a week from today on Aug. 7.
$2 of every ticket sold through the special will be donated to the Ballard Food Bank.

The Mariners aren’t the only team with a homecoming tonight.
The Bells are back in town as they begin their final stretch of the season. They’re hosting the Victoria HarbourCats for the start of their penultimate regular season series.
Bellingham decimated the Marion Berries 14-1 last night to sweep the road series and push their wins streak to five. They’re now tied with Victoria in the race to pick up home field advantage in the first round of the West Coast League playoffs.
The Bells have all but clinched a spot in the postseason, but winning this weekend’s series could guarantee more playoff baseball in Bellingham.

An old nemesis of the Seahawks is returning to their division rival.
The NFL Network reports the 49ers and wide receiver Deebo Samuel have agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $7 million.
Samuel had nearly 6,000 all-purpose yards over his seven seasons in San Francisco before spending a season with the Commanders last year.
The 30-year-old former All-Pro returns as the 49ers are dealing with injuries to a pair of their top receivers Ricky Pearsall and Christian Kirk.

One of the best-known broadcasters in football might not be available for the start of the season.
CBS Sports announced today that it’s placed Tony Romo on leave after his DUI arrest last week. Romo received three citations from the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office for a traffic stop where he performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was found with an open container of alcohol inside his Jeep.
The former star quarterback for the Cowboys has been the lead game analyst for CBS’ NFL coverage since 2017. While he’s on leave, former Texans pass rusher and 3x Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt will take his place alongside Jim Nantz.

The Storm are back tonight on the heels of a drama-ridden week.
They’re in Atlanta for a game against the Dream as they look to snap their seven-game skid.
The team made national headlines when the WNBA suspended co-owner Celeste Keaton from attending their next five home games after her heated exchange with two young fans during Tuesday’s game against the Fever. The Storm have since apologized for the incident.
Meanwhile, the team has fallen to the bottom of the standings, now owning the worst record in the league with just six wins in 30 games. One of those wins came earlier in the season against the Dream, as the Storm look to repeat that magic tonight.
