WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – There is plenty of incentive to take part in one of Whatcom County’s biggest food drives on Friday, Aug. 9.

The Northwest Washington Fair is offering free admission to anyone who pitches in for Food Drive Friday, sponsored by Brown and Brown Insurance Services.

All you have to do is bring four items to Gates 1 or 5 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Local food banks are asking for canned proteins, fruits and vegetables, dry pinto beans, pasta and rice.

All the donations will go to the Whatcom County Food Bank Network, which is made up of 13 independent organizations across the county.

Aug. 9 is the only day that Food Drive Friday is taking place.

It comes weeks after the Food Bank Network requested $2 million from the Whatcom County Council to combat rising food insecurity.
