Editor’s note: Story updated on 9/15/25 to specify the type of charge that Allen is facing from the Washington State Department of Health.

LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A local healthcare professional is facing a civil charge for allegedly stealing pills from a resident at an assisted living facility in Lynden.

The state Department of Health charged the certified nursing assistant, identified as Allyson Allen, with unprofessional conduct last month.

The department alleges that Allen stole about 31 Oxycodone pills from the resident on several occasions between August and October of 2021.

It claims she tried to cover it up by replacing the stolen prescription with Lorazepam pills of her own.

Allen had been practicing as a nursing assistant since 2006, but had her credential expire in February.

She also faced a criminal charge for the incident, but the case was dismissed without prejudice in Whatcom County Superior Court in June 2023.
