WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A local aid group is putting a call out for students to help the recovery effort in flood-ravaged parts of Whatcom County.

The Whatcom Long Term Recovery Group is asking for local high school students to join the recovery effort in Everson and Sumas.

The group says it’s in urgent need of volunteers this week to muck and tear out damaged materials in flooded homes, help with yard cleanup and general debris removal.

Students who volunteer can put those hours towards school or graduation requirements.

Volunteer check-in locations are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the rest of the week at the Station 81 Fire Hall in Everson and the Sumas Advent Christian Church.

You can learn more or sign up at whatcomstrong.com/volunteer.
