BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Spring is here. Technically. The weather is warming up a bit in Whatcom County and glorious sunny weather is just around the corner. Hopefully.

That means it is time to get into shape. How does a run through beautiful Everson sound?

Honeywagon Runs kicks off on Saturday, March 22 with bib pick up at 7:30 a.m. at Nooksack Valley Middle School. You can run a four-mile course or a half marathon all while taking in the gorgeous views of western Whatcom County, the foothills and the Nooksack River.

Honeywagon Runs started in 1982 and has been running every year since then except for 2020 when the COVID 19 pandemic forced a cancellation. The course takes you along country roads what will not be closed to traffic, so dress accordingly and use caution.

For all the details and to register, go to the Greater Bellingham Running Club’s website.

If kayaking is more your style, you are in luck. Rob Casey will be at Village Books in Fairhaven on Saturday talking about his book Paddling the Salish Sea: 80 Trips in Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, Olympic Peninsula and Southern British Columbia.

The title says it all.

There are tons of options for kayaking in the Salish Sea but it’s important to be prepared and well-trained to safely enjoy the conditions. Photo by Adam Smith.

Casey will discuss updates to his book and compare newer trips and older trips he has done over the years. Regardless of your kayaking skill level, this book will provide you the know-how to get out on the water safely and enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

If you need a good laugh, look no further than the Corner Taphouse in Bellingham.

Standup comedian Sam Miller will be in town on Friday, March 21 presenting his hilarious tales of time spent in a Yakima jail, his journey through eleven years of sobriety, marriage, fatherhood and everything else in life. (Includes adult content).
