WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The weekend before Christmas is going to be another dreary one in Whatcom County. Thankfully, there are plenty of activities you can enjoy indoors. A holiday play, Christmas movies, live music and a dockside market all made the cut for this week’s Lifestyle Lookout.

The Blaine Performing Arts Center presents Intergalactic Holiday. It’s an otherworldly adventure featuring an alien from a distant galaxy who comes to Earth on a mission to find Santa Claus. Apparently, the jolly old man who brings joy to the masses has built up quite a reputation across the galaxy.

Intergalactic Holiday is on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door. The Blaine Performing Arts Center is located at 975 H Street. For all the details go to daytodaydance.com.

If you are still looking to stock up on some goodies for the Christmas holiday, you do not want to miss the Holiday Dockside Market at Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham. Head down to buy all the best local seafood directly from the local fishing community. There will also be a holiday market, food, craft vendors and a live performance from the Bellingham Youth Jazz Band. Plus, Santa “Claws” will be on hand.

The Holiday Dockside Market runs Saturday, Dec. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2599 S. Harbor Loop. For all the details, visit the Holiday Dockside Market’s Facebook page.

It’s Christmas movie season, and local movie theaters have you covered. The Pickford Film Center is showing The Muppet Christmas Carol on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m. They will also have two showings of It’s a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve.

Regal Barkley Village is also getting festive for the holidays with a couple of $5 shows. Elf plays at 11 a.m. on Saturday and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation plays at 11 a.m. on Sunday. You can also purchase tickets for one of The Royal Ballet: The Nutcracker showings on Sunday and Monday.

If you haven’t yet, now is your last chance to take part in the Holiday Lights Photo Contest on our website. Upload a festive photo for a chance to win a $60 gift card to Storia Cucina in downtown Bellingham. The contest closes at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20.

Our featured live show this week is at The Shakedown in Bellingham. Sons of Rainier will grace the stage with their brand of Pacific Northwest Americana. If you like folk, blues and bluegrass, this is the show for you.

Sons of Rainier plays with Lonesome Shack on Friday, Dec. 20 at 9 p.m. Get your tickets at shakedownbellingham.com.
