NORTH CASCADES, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An injured hiker was saved following an overnight rescue in the North Cascades on Thursday, June 26.

The Bellingham Mountain Rescue Council says the person fell while they were hiking in a steep, snowy area far off the trail near Twin Lakes around 4 p.m.

A pair of National Forest Service employees heard the hiker calling out for help and kept them dry and table before a rescue team arrived.

The Mountain Rescue Council says the hiker was carried out using a series of technical rope systems while rain fell through the evening and into the night.

The group is reminding hikers to pack the 10 essentials and be prepared for wintery conditions high up in the Cascades, even in late June.
