FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Seahawks fever is spreading all around Whatcom County ahead of the Super Bowl, but it’s hitting one city extra hard.

The Ferndale City Council voted unanimously on Monday, Feb. 2 to rename the city as “Hawkdale” through the big game this Sunday.

The resolution was requested by council member Jon Mutchler.

According to resolution, the move comes in honor of the unmatched spirit of the 12s fans amid a season where the Seahawks set their franchise record for wins. It follows a similar decision by the City of Issaquah to rename itself as “12saquah” through the Super Bowl.

The Seahawks are set to kick off against the Patriots at 3:30 pm on Sunday in Super Bowl 60 .

You can tune into the Zone from 3-6 all week on KPUG to hear Allan Fee talk to Seahawks players, media members and other celebrities live from Radio Row in San Francisco.
