OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – In the race for Washington governor, Democratic Attorney General Bob Ferguson will face former Republican U.S. Rep. and King County Sheriff Dave Reichert in November.

Ferguson leads the crowded primary field with over 45% of the vote, while 28% back Reichert. Washington hasn’t had a Republican governor in nearly 40 years, but the race is considered competitive. State GOP choice Semi Bird has so far managed to capture over 9% of the vote.

A Republican is leading in the race for state attorney general. Pete Serrano has almost 42% of the vote. Democrat Nick Brown is in second place and appears likely to face off against Serrano in November to fill the position being vacated by Ferguson.

The race for Public Lands Commissioner is extremely close, with Republicans Jaime Herrera Beutler and Sue Kuehl Pederson and Democrat Dave Upthegrove all hovering around 20%. Herrera Beutler is a former Republican U.S. Representative for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District who lost in the 2022 primary over her vote to impeach former President Trump.

Incumbent U.S. Representative Rick Larsen is faring well with over 50% of 2nd District voters supporting him. He looks likely to face Republican Cody Hart who received almost 20% of the vote in the district Larsen has represented since 2001.
