UPDATE: Suspect arrested after hit and run in Everson

EVERSON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A woman is in custody after being accused of striking a pedestrian with her car in Everson.

Everson Police say that an 87-year-old female was hit shortly before 1 p.m. on Wednesday and transported to the hospital.

The incident occurred on E. Main Street, and the driver fled the scene.

Police put out a public call to find the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Shranden Toquinto Carpenter.

She was booked into the Whatcom County Jail just before noon on Thursday, Dec. 18.
