Dorothy Elofson Sherwood, born on December 24th, 1937, to Carl and Stella Elofson, passed away on May 4th, 2024.  After graduating from Fargo High School, Dorothy attended North Dakota State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in music.   She married Tom Sherwood in Fargo, ND, in 1960, who preceded her in death in February 2019.

Dorothy’s family fondly remembers their travels throughout Europe and the United States, enjoying dinners together and with their many close friends, walking their dog around Lake Padden, hikes in the hills, parks and mountains in the Northwest and playing crazy games of volleyball in the backyard.  She loved visiting her grandchildren in LA, exploring museums, and indulging in French pastries and Champagne. Her annual birthday open house with friends was always a highlight.

Dorothy had a passion for art, travel, and gardens. She was known for her warmth, organization, and supportive nature.

She will be remembered for her selflessness, especially during challenging times when she prioritized her family’s needs over her own.

Dorothy is survived by her brother Stan Elofson and his wife Nancy, her sons Jud and Talley Sherwood, Talley’s wife Lin Min Kong and their daughters Taili Sherwood-Kong and Kaila Sherwood-Kong.

In Dorothy’s memory, let us cherish her values of kindness, generosity, and her adventurous spirit. Though she’s no longer with us, her love and legacy will endure in our hearts.
