WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Diesel prices have hit a new record in Whatcom County.
AAA reports the average gallon of diesel fuel in the county currently costs $7.08.
That’s up nearly 30 cents from last week and over a dollar from a month ago, reflecting the highest price in county history.
Diesel prices have also set records at the state and national level.
The price of regular gas has remained stable over the past week in Whatcom County, still sitting at $5.40 per gallon.
GasBuddy’s Patrick De Haan says continued strikes on Russian oil refineries are tightening the global diesel supply.
“Any broader directional change will depend heavily on overseas developments, and with new Houthi attacks and fresh U.S.-Iran escalations, the outlook remains deeply uncertain,” De Haan said in a news release.
The Washington Trucking Association has warned that rising diesel prices will drive consumer prices even higher.
