WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The deadline to apply for federal aid from last December’s flooding is just a week away.

Wednesday, June 10 is the final day to submit FEMA applications for residents in select counties and tribes, including Whatcom, Skagit, Lummi and Nooksack.

The aid can cover temporary housing, displacement, home repair costs, personal property loss and other expenses brought on by the flooding.

So far, FEMA said it’s approved nearly $9 million for over 900 households across the state.

This federal aid is separate from Washington state’s individual assistance program.

You can apply online at disasterassistance.gov or get in-person help at Disaster Assistance Centers in Ferndale, Everson, Sumas and Burlington.
