SEQUIM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – You’re out of luck if your bucket list includes walking on an airplane’s wings while in flight.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has grounded a Sequim pilot who has offered the experience for the last 12 years. The Seattle Times reports Mike Mason claims he had the FAA’s blessing when he began his business in 2012.

Customers would shell out $1,000 to $1,400 to climb onto the upper wing of his biplane at 3,500 feet. They would then strap themselves into a harness and ride as Mason did aerobatic maneuvers, including flying upside down.

The FAA has now determined that the activity is unsafe.

Mason’s business was the only one in the U.S.- and possibly the world – that offered that kind of thrill.
