BRIEF: Fire crews battle wildfire in Skagit County

DARRINGTON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Crews in rural Skagit County are battling a wildfire that broke out over the weekend.

The Washington Department of Natural Resources says that the Dearinger Fire was first reported about eight miles north of Darrington on the afternoon of Saturday, June 22.

The fire has burned nearly 48 acres of steep land as of the evening of June 24. Darrington Fire officials told KOMO News that winds have caused the fire to spread.

No evacuation orders are in effect, but people are being asked to avoid the area.
