The Bells’ title defense has come up short.
They fell to the Wenatchee AppleSox 18-4 last night in the North Division Championship.
The Bells drew first blood in the second inning, but the AppleSox responded with four runs in each of the next two innings and never looked back. Wenatchee tacked on nine more runs in the sixth inning as they continued their season of dominance.
The Sox will now host Corvallis in the West Coast League Championship Game tomorrow night.
It was still a successful first year for the Bells under skipper Alan Regier. They finished the regular season with a 36-19 record, good for second in the league and the second most wins in team history, while pacing the league in batting average.

The Mariners are currently trying to snap their skid in New York as they look for any signs of life from their offense.
The M’s are facing the Yankees in the second of their three game series.
Seattle fell 4-1 in the opener last night for their fifth straight loss. Randy Arozarena broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run in the sixth inning, but the Yankees answered with a pair of 2-run singles in the seventh to steal the win.
On the bright side, Bryan Woo tossed five innings of shutout ball to end his road woes.
The slumping Mariners now sit four and a half games behind the division lead and four out of a wild card spot.

A new sale in professional sports has topped even that of the Seahawks’ last month.
ESPN reports the Los Angeles Lakers are being sold to Josh Kushner and former Disney CEO Bob Iger for a record $12.5 billion.
It’s the biggest sale of any sports franchise in the United States. It also just passed the previous sale of the Lakers, who went to Mark Walter for $10 billion just last year.
ESPN reports that Walter, who also has a stake in the Dodgers, is only selling the Lakers in this transaction.
The sale is still pending approval from the NBA’s board of governors, which could take several weeks. The next board meeting is scheduled for September, when Sonics fans will anxiously await the fate of league expansion.
Speaking of the Sonics, one of the team’s final draft picks and one the greatest point guards of this generation is calling it a career.
Former MVP Russell Westbrook announced today that he’s retiring after 18 seasons.
The Sonics took Westbrook fourth overall in the 2008 draft, but he never played a game in the city since the team moved to Oklahoma City that summer. He went on to play 11 seasons with the Thunder, becoming the first player since 1962 to average a triple-double for a full season in 2017.
The 9x All-Star owns the record for most career triple-doubles and scored the fourth most career points among players that never won an NBA championship.
