Bellingham Fire Department continues investigation into sulfur-like odor in south Bellingham

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The source of a rancid odor in south Bellingham remains under investigation by the Bellingham Fire Department (BFD).

BFD says that multiple people have reported the strong sulfur-like smell between Fairhaven and downtown Bellingham on the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 27. The smell left the area by Wednesday afternoon, but the investigation is ongoing.

The fire department is in contact with BNSF, Cascade Natural Gas, the Northwest Clean Air Agency and more to continue to investigate where the smell may have originated.
