BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A local bar has climbed the rankings to reach the top in sales of a Washington beer staple.

Cabin Tavern, known as The Cabin to many, has taken the title for most Rainier Beer sales on premises in Washington state, while at the same time reaching second overall in the country.

The bar received notoriety for their efforts selling the lager last year when they were named ninth on the list for 2023.

The Cabin made the announcement on social media on Jan. 2, adding a thank you to their customers for upping their numbers this year.

“The numbers are in and it’s official. The Cabin is the #1 seller, on-premise, of Rainier Beer in the state of Washington. We are also #2 in the country, world, solar system, galaxy and universe until someone can prove me wrong. Thanks to our customers for upping our numbers this year and a very special thanks to our beloved Tony Kesslau,” The Cabin said in their post on Instagram.

Owner Christian Danielson told My Bellingham Now that he couldn’t be happier with the results.

“When we hung up the plaque last year that said we were number nine, I feel like a lot of our customers really took it as a challenge,” Danielson said. “They really wanted to up our numbers and they did it.”

He adds that Kesslau, the man mentioned in their social media, is a proponent of encouraging the consumption of Rainier at The Cabin.

“[Kesslau] is like the number one Rainier fan,” Danielson said. “It’s the only beer he drinks, and he’s well known for loving Rainier and supporting Rainier and rallying the troops to make sure when they order, they order Rainier.”

While Danielson did not know the name of the business that holds the national title, he said it is a Bend, OR-based place that may be surrounded by food trucks.

“[According to our distributor] They must be bathing in Rainier they buy so much of it,” he said. The Bend business held the title last year, and Danielson said that they would have a large gap to close to catch up with number one.

Danielson made it clear that he would love to try bringing back the title of number one Rainier Beer consumers to Washington state.
