BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – As daylight saving time comes to an end, the days will get shorter for residents in the Pacific Northwest.

Clocks will be set back an hour on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 a.m. as most of the U.S. reverts to Standard Time.

The City of Bellingham is reminding citizens to be vigilant while driving, walking, biking or using public roads in any capacity with the increase in darkness. The city also says wildlife will be more active at dusk and dawn during these darker days.

Arizona and Hawai’i are the only two states that don’t observe the time change.

Efforts to abolish the practice altogether have been made at the state and federal levels, but none can go into effect without Congressional approval.

The end of daylight saving time also brings biennial reminders from fire officials about checking your smoke detectors to make sure they still work.
