WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Wildfire smoke is starting to clear up as the air quality improved across Whatcom County on Thursday, Aug. 6.
The Northwest Clean Air Agency downgraded the air quality from “hazardous” to “unhealthy for sensitive groups” in Kendall and Maple Falls.
Everson cleared up to “moderate” levels, which stayed consistent with most other cities within the county.
The National Weather Service expects wildfire smoke to gradually decrease starting Thursday evening, but some elevated smoke might not fully clear out until early Saturday, Aug. 8.
Meanwhile, the heat advisory for northwest Washington has been extended through 10 p.m. Friday.
Highs are forecast to reach the mid-80’s in Everson, Lynden, Sumas and Deming.
