WSP releases fireworks safety guidelines, discharge times for Whatcom County cities

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol is out with their annual reminders about setting off fireworks ahead of the Fourth of July weekend.

They are reminding folks to only buy fireworks from legally state-licensed retailers.

All fireworks should be set off outside and away from buildings, and a water supply must be available nearby.

Fireworks are illegal to set off without a permit in the City of Bellingham.

Other parts of Whatcom County allow fireworks use on the following dates and times:

  • July 3rd: 6:00 PM until 11:00 PM
  • July 4th: 6:00 PM until 12:00 midnight
  • July 5th: 6:00 PM until 11:00 PM
