LIND, Wash. – Several wildfires have flared up in eastern Washington this week with one of them causing the evacuation of an entire town.

One of those fires has forced the evacuation yesterday of the 500 residents of the small town of Lind, located just East of Moses Lake.

The local sheriff says six homes and eight other structures burned, but the fire had settled down enough for residents to return last night.

Two other fires, the Williams Lake fire southwest of Spokane and the Cow Canyon Fire southwest of Ellensburg, had grown to 5 and 9 square miles respectively, and also forced some evacuations.
